(Theory) E.C.P.O Close Protection Officer at Advanced level [EN]
Training Description
Hello, and welcome to our platform.
Here, we will cover the theoretical part only. This course is reserved for our students, and access is valid only during your training period. Please contact your training center for assistance.
The theoretical portion, particularly the "evidences," carries a significant percentage weight in granting your certification. Therefore, please give it the required attention!
One key to success is self-confidence.
A vital key to self-confidence is preparation...
The ECPO training you are about to undertake is comparable in level to the combination of the British SIA (Security Industry Authority) BTEC Level III (CPO) + BTEC Level IV (Hostile Environment). Following Brexit, this certification has been managed by Ireland and is aligned with the European Level 4 standard. This training has been designed for high-risk close protection, whether for VIPs or in high-threat zones, such as security detachments in hostile areas. It is a highly intensive compilation of the fundamentals of "civilian" close protection, expanded to include risk-zone protection techniques drawn from more military approaches.
Acronyms to Remember
(There will be many; they are in English – the international standard – as teams are multilingual):
- CPO: Close Protection Officer (French equivalent: Agent de Protection Rapprochée or APR)
- PPO: Personal Protective Officer (UK) / AIC: Agent In Charge (USA – Secret Service)
- CPD: Close Protection Driver
- TL: Team Leader
The course consists of several themes; some are relatively short in theory, while others are more complex and fundamental. The course does not include any unnecessary material.
Certain chapters are interrelated, such as teamwork and operational planning, reconnaissance, or searches. However, for the sake of clarity, the course has been structured theoretically. Practical exercises will cover all these aspects comprehensively. Close protection requires extensive knowledge and methodical approaches, but it must remain adaptable to the context and available skills.
Please note that first aid is not covered in this course since you are required to complete a "Combat Medic" training during your in-person training session.
Another aspect will only be addressed theoretically: offensive, defensive, and evasive driving. To be effective, this requires multiple days and access to vehicles you are likely to operate in risk zones – something impractical to cover in this format.
Course Structure
This training is divided into several modules, each with quizzes. (A liner map is to be submitted during your course.)
The quizzes are designed for self-assessment, but the assignments or EVIDENCES (mandatory) significantly impact your success in this training. These must be returned to us no later than the day of your examination. Take your time, as the evidences must be submitted within 48 hours after completing your online course (SMAT modules) to be validated.
We recommend reading and completing one module at a time, dedicating a day or more to each. This approach ensures optimal performance on the "ASSIGNMENTS or EVIDENCES" and adherence to the module sequence.
IMPORTANT
- Quizzes are not unlimited! Once you pass, there is no need to retake them; only your first positive scores will be recorded.
- Failure to comply with these procedures will result in your theoretical course not being validated.
